Douglas Greene, spokesman for the San Antonio police department, said the man had driven his SUV to the top of the bridge around 12,30 p.m, parked, got out and jumped off the flyover, landing on the northbound lane of the highway.
According to mysanantonio.com, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The flyover was shut down by the police who were investigating the scene, they left all but one lane for about two hours.
Traffic began to mount but eased off when both highways were reopened later.
Suicide is not peculiar to the west alone, and there are diverse reasons that lead people into taking their own life.
Only recently, a father of three who resides at Americana street, in the Ijegun area of Lagos, took his own life for reasons unknown to family and friends.
It was gathered that the deceased concluded an evangelism outreach session with some members of his church and afterwards locked and hung himself in his room.
